Estate Tracker is a free tool that turns one JSON file into a live picture of your estate: IHT scenarios, gifting and the 7-year clock, retirement readiness, and lifetime cashflow. Everything runs in your browser. We never see your numbers.
Launch the tool → How it works
Open your estate_data.json from your own disk. New here? Download a starter
file and fill it in. The file is read locally — it is never sent anywhere.
Explore IHT on each death scenario, model gifting and taper relief, stress-test your retirement cashflow, and watch the projections update live.
On Chrome/Edge the tool writes changes straight back to the same file. On any browser it downloads an updated copy. You keep the only copy — always.
There is no account, no backend, and no analytics. A strict Content-Security-Policy blocks the page from sending data to any third party. You can confirm it yourself: open your browser's Network tab and watch it stay empty — or install the app and run it with the internet switched off.
Keep estate_data.json wherever you like — including a Google Drive, iCloud,
Dropbox or OneDrive synced folder, so it follows you across devices. In that case
your own cloud syncs the file under your own account; the app itself still connects to
nothing.
1. Get a starting file. On the tool, click
"New here? Download a starter file" to get a valid, empty
estate_data.json (UK statutory IHT bands pre-filled).
2. Fill it in. Use the Maintain data tab to add your assets,
pensions, gifts and insurance. Set your assumptions (dates of birth, growth, retirement age)
in the file's ASSUMPTIONS section.
3. Keep it current. Re-open the file any time, update values, and Save changes. Take a quarterly snapshot to build a net-worth-over-time trend that travels inside the file.
Because we store nothing, you are responsible for your own backups — keep a copy somewhere safe (a synced folder does this for you).
